Relift usage data policy

How the free edition of Relift collects, uses, and protects anonymous usage data, and the choices you have.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to the free edition of Relift, meaning the Relift desktop app and the relift command-line tool, from version 1.0.0. It covers only the optional usage data those tools can send to Riven Labs. The Riven Labs website has its own privacy policy, and Relift for teams is covered by its customer agreement.

Who we are

Riven Labs is the controller of the usage data described here. You can reach us about this policy or your data at support@riven-labs.com.

What Relift collects

When you have agreed, Relift records:

  • a random install ID, created when you agree and not derived from anything on your machine, and a random ID for each app launch or command run;
  • the Relift product, edition, version and build, your operating system and its major and minor version, and your CPU architecture;
  • when a session starts and ends, and its approximate length;
  • for each binary you open: whether it opened, its Go version, target platform, kind of obfuscation and whether it was stripped, and its size, function count and load time as ranges, never exact values;
  • how often you used each Relift feature, and how long code recovery took, as ranges;
  • the location in Relift's own source code where an error or crash happened;
  • for the command-line tool: which command ran, its exit code, whether JSON output was used, and its approximate duration;
  • changes to your usage data choice.

All times are rounded down to the hour. Every value comes from a fixed list or a range, and our server rejects anything else.

What Relift never collects

Relift never sends file names, file paths, file contents, binary hashes, strings, symbols or recovered code from the binaries you analyze. It never sends your user name, host name, hardware identifiers or IP address.

Your country and connection

Our server reads your country from the connection and does not store the address. We keep only the two-letter country code, never your region or city.

IP addresses are used only briefly, in memory, to limit abuse of the service, and are not written to our database, logs or analytics. We set no cookies, return no identifiers, and do not combine usage data with website, account or licensing data.

How we use usage data

We use usage data to find and fix bugs and crashes, understand which features and platforms matter, and decide what to improve. We use it only as statistics: not for advertising, not to profile you, and not to enforce licenses. We do not sell it.

Storage and retention

While you share, Relift keeps a small queue of events on your machine (at most 1 MB or 5,000 events) and sends it when the app starts, every six hours while it runs, and when it exits.

On our servers, usage data is kept for 13 months and then deleted automatically. Totals that no longer carry an install ID, such as daily counts by version, operating system or feature, may be kept longer.

Seeing and deleting your data

Settings > Privacy shows your current choice, your install ID and the exact data waiting to be sent. On the command line, use relift privacy status and relift privacy show.

To delete data already sent, use Delete data already sent in Settings > Privacy, or relift privacy delete. We delete everything stored for your install ID within 30 days, and Relift then creates a new install ID. Because we do not know who you are, we can find your data only by that ID.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, delete or restrict your data, to object to its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. The tools above cover access and deletion directly. For any other request, contact support@riven-labs.com with your install ID. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Sharing

Usage data is shared only with service providers that host and operate our infrastructure on our behalf, under our instructions. We do not sell it or share it for advertising.

Security

Relift sends usage data only over HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or later. Access to stored usage data is limited to the people who analyze it, and our dashboards show totals rather than individual installs.

Changes to this policy

If we change what Relift collects or how long we keep it, we will update this policy and the notice inside Relift together. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy last changed.
